The younger Gillemans was a pupil of Joris van Son in Antwerp. In 1673/74 he became master of the Lukasgilde in Antwerp. Between 1700 and 1702 he lived in Middelburg, moving on to Amsterdam. His still lifes distinguish themselves from those of his father in a certain softness about them and their more decorative and theatrical compositions.
