End of the 19th century, designed and produced presumably by the Royal and Imperial court cabinet maker Sigmund Jaray, cream-painted hardwood chair with openwork inspired by Chinese balustrades, fabric covered seat, some ageing and wear, some losses. (DOC) An unusual and notable piece presenting a typical fin de siecle blend of various stylistic elements of Chinese decoration and the rising taste for the Japanese, together with typical classical ornament on the legs such as wave band and lion-paws.
