Certificate: Ursula Härting, 13 February 2002, as an autograph work by Abraham Covaerts, with the figures having been executed by Frans Francken the Younger and the assistance of his workshop collaborators. Dr. Härting dates the painting to shortly before 1620, when an armistice was reached in the war between the Southern and Northern Netherlands. “The Muses,” she writes, “seem to virtually awake to times of peace.” Literature: The painting is described and reproduced in: Ursula Härting, Abraham Govaerts – Der Waldmaler, catalogue raisonné, 2003, p. 158, no. 157.
