![Ando Hiroshige - Clocks, Asian Art, Metalwork, Faience, Folk Art, Sculpture Ando Hiroshige - Clocks, Asian Art, Metalwork, Faience, Folk Art, Sculpture](/fileadmin/lot-images/39Q180913/normal/ando-hiroshige-5688307.jpg)
(Japan 1797-1858) Series: Goj san (series of views of 53 tourist attractions), sheet 23, ‘Fujieda, Setogawa kachiwatari’ (Fujieda; crossing the Seto River on foot), signature ‘Hiroshige hitsu’, aratame seal, date seal 7th month in the year of the rabbit (1855), publisher’s seal: Tsutaya Kichizô (Kôeido). This series, consisting of 55 sheets is also known as Vertical Tokaido. To the sky, the wood grain is visible and is evident in the original impressions. The consistently coloured water and small unprinted (white) areas around the cartouches indicate that this is a later impression. The colours are good, some overlapping. Nicely graduated bokashi (compare this impression with one in the Library of Congress LC-DIG_jpd-00182). Good impression and colours, slightly spotted, small spot above beneath the black bokaski, rather creased, 36.1 x 24.7 cm, (CT)
