(Honjo, Edo 1786-1865 Edo) Triptych, image of kabuki players (Yakusha-e) Nakamura Shikan (1st and 3rd sheet), Nakayama Genjuro (1st sheet) and Sawamura Tanosuke (2nd sheet), coloured woodblock print, signed ‘Kochoro’ (see p. 3. signature 2, ill. 4., Kunisada (Toyokuni III), signatures and seals. According to Horst Gräbner, this signature seal was used between 1825 and 1861. Publisher Isega Kanchichi Iskane (publisher’s seal was used from 1850 to 1871, see Andrea Marks, Publishers of Japanese Woodblock Prints, p. 60 (21-059), combined date and aratame seal Keio 2 (1866), 1st sheet without Toshidama seal, see Andreas Marks, p. 485, three oban tate-e, slight damage to margins, slightly spotted, each 35.5 x 25 cm, in mat, behind glass, framed, (CT)
