Songhor Kelley, - Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestries

West Persia (Iran), c. 473 x 248 cm, beginning of the 19th century, a very early Kurdish carpet in kelley format with symmetrical knots and cotton foundation (warp threads dyed yellow), pattern design typical of this region with massive “moon” medallion and appendage surrounded by so-called “Mina Khani” design on black and blue ground, both ends complete and original, newly overcast side edges, partially low pile due to age.
