Tapestry, - Oriental carpets, textiles and tapestries

Aubusson (Central France), c. 279 x 287 cm, about 1731, verdure tapestry of silk and wool weaving, classical landscape motif typical of the period with wooded scene, a heron, a parrot and a view of a temple of Diana with a bell, the tapestry features the signature (L. B. M. R. DAUBUSSON.) of the weaver’s workshops of “Louis Boffinet”, who is documented around 1731, wholly complete with a few repairs due to age. (MA)
