The 48 figures stand under arcade arches, framing a view of the inner courtyard of the Dominican monastery in Bologna, at top and bottom inscriptions and coats of arms. Rodrigo’s son, Felix, was Dominic’s father. Among the descendants of Felix’s brother Alvaro through marriage are the kings of Castile and Aragon, and from these the kings of Spain and France as well as the emperors of the House of Hapsburg until Joseph I.
