Pavel Kristián of Koldín (1539-1589), the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the Chancellor of the Old Town of Prague followed-up in the codification of the urban law on the previous efforts of Brikcí of Licko. Kristián's proposal - approved in 1579 by the Czech Land Diet - was already based on the life of Prague's towns, on the land law and on various resolutions of the Diet. He also successfully incorporated some elements of Roman civil law into his code. After the first edition of 1579, a shorter version of the Law began to be published, starting in 1581, that was also translated into German.
