An important and rare Tikar Mask, Cameroon, Wood, 38 x 60 cm.
Neighbours of the Bamum, their art and names are often confused. Most of these rare crest masks would have been worn on top of the head. It was used by the secret society, a group of wealthy and powerful men, during ceremonies ranging from entertainments to funerals.
