D’aprés lé Dessein de Mr. Caucig, Professeur de l’Academie J. R. des arts á Vienne”, verso with inscription, signed on the bottom right K. Herr, 32,5 x 41,5 cm, underside with wide gilt edging,

Thieme-Becker, XVI, p 532: Claudius Herr, miniature painter etc., son of Johann, (b. Vienna 1775), up to 1806 mainly small pieces (such as dejeuners), from 1806 in particular plates with the entire well decorated with a painting, often mythological scenes, from 1816 serving platters and porcelain panels based on old masters. Emperor Franz enjoyed giving his work as gifts, with many ending up in England. Many of his pieces are in public or private collections. At the Vienna Porcelain Exhibition of 1904, he participated with a 1834 portrait of Emperor Ferdinand I.
