Imposing Italian Baroque bureau cabinet, - Works of Art

Known as a "Bureau Trumeau", Venice, 18th century and later. A bureau à deux corps, made in walnut-veneered softwood with serpentine sides, the front with rounded and angled shaping, veneered in fillets and with crossbanding and panels. The piece has a wide lower section with 3 drawers, these lined with white moiré silk, with a fall-front writing surface enclosing interior drawers and compartments, and with 2 lined secret compartments below the central sliding top. The upper section has a moulded broken pediment, 2 glazed doors and a tall narrow door at each side, the interior lined again in white moiré silk. Ca. 257 x 158 x 64 cm. This piece has recently undergone a complete restoration. With slight wear. (DOC)
