Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 235 x 162 cm, late 19th century, antique silk carpet from the Heriz region, manufactured with c. 1/2 mill. kts/sqm and cotton wefts, curious tree of life pattern with demons, shepherds, riders and several abstract animal figures; excellent pile condition, only minimal signs of wear, both finishes are complete and original as well as secured with a linen band on the back; since items such as the present one were produced as rustic domestic handicrafts, the slanted upper border does not detract from its overall impact.
