Austria, 18th century, ‘à trois corps’, with curved and angled front, walnut and walnut root veneer as well as maplewood marquetry in panels and bands, the lower section with 3 drawers, writing compartment with fall-front writing surface and 2 external drawers, enclosing an unaltered fitted interior lined with old paper, upper section with moulded gable, 1 large and 6 small drawers, niche door with 4 secret compartments (central locking mechanism) which become visible by removing the covering plate, c. 207 x 132 x 65 cm, the (Biedermeier) feet have been supplemented in the course of a previous restoration, otherwise in well-kept condition with signs of age.
