Kordi Chuval Kilim, - Carpets

Northeast Persia (Iran), c. 236 x 89 cm, about 1930, this woven soumak kilim with wraps is open on the side and was formerly used as a large transport or storage bag, whilst the back is usually very simple, with the present item the weaver has managed to create a technically striking piece, this specimen shows the entire spectrum of Kurdish decorative motifs in a horizontal striped pattern, in superb colour condition with bright shades of blue, a special feature is a row of four-legged figures and stylised human figures in the upper finish; excellent state of preservation, without damage.
