West Turkestan, c. 112 x 70 cm, mid-19th century, the present yellow silk woman’s cloak is exquisitely embroidered with silk motifs of ascending fan-shaped blossoms, this garment used to be worn on one’s head in order to hide a woman’s hair, with folded-back false sleeves and ornamental fringes preserved in their original condition, lined with printed pattern cotton fabric, a few minimally damaged areas as well as minor tears to the shoulders.
