Tekke Khali,
West Turkestan, c. 235 (297) x 195 cm, beginning of the 19th century, perfectly proportioned central carpet with 4 x 9 round Tekke gulli guls, which are typically interlinked with a rectangular latticework at the intersecting points, the kurbage secondary motifs also feature small vertical lozenges as tertiary motifs, main border with starred octagons separated into compartments by means of dividing decorations, the two narrow side borders indicate a time of origin after 1800, a very similar fragment is preserved in the Hoffmeister Collection; the carpet is in superb colour condition and overall state of preservation, with minimal traces of usage, the large kilim ends have entirely survived, exquisite wool quality, only a minor repair to the lower field.
