The present painting belongs to a group of works depicting a town on a river, traditionally and incorrectly believed to be a view of Treviso. This ‘Treviso Group’ has been attributed first to Joos de Momper and later to his son Philippe de Momper I. These paintings have obviously been executed by an artist strongly influenced by Joos de Momper.
