Delicate lady’s writing desk, - Furniture and works of art

Probably Russia, 2nd half of the 19th century. A mahogany-veneered hardwood desk on tapering legs with square cross-section, with all-over marquetry panels and geometric patterns using silver-coloured metal inlays, with a concave central section, 1 large and 4 small drawers in the frieze area, 1 pull-out ledge, the upper section with similar marquetry and 1 large and 6 small drawers, a white marble top, the lock plates in the form of embossed heads of Medusa and with a top rail. Ca. 101 x 71 x 46 cm. In cared-for condition . (DOC)
