Giovanni Giuliani (1664-1744) attributed to, The Evangelists, St John and St Mark,
Lower Austria, circa 1700-1720, both saints depicted in a gently curving posture, each with a book in his hands, to their sides, an Evangelist symbol, respectively an eagle and a lion, pine wood carved in the round, to the undersides, remains of an acanthus leaf visible, heights 40 and 41 cm, (MC)
With their animated postures, facial features and characteristic style of fold treatment, both Evangelists may be compared with the works of Giovanni Giuliani.
