Two Baroque terracotta reliefs,
circa 1700-1730, the Penitent Magdalene and the Repentant St Peter, polychrome-painted terracotta, approx. 12 x 18 cm, new frame, 18.5 x 24.5 cm, some restoration of breakages to the relief of the Magdalene, (MC)
According to the old labels on the reverse, these were previously on loan to the Österreichische Galerie, and were attributed to Balthasar Permoser. There are, however, very similar works by Josef Stammel; see Heirich Decker, Barock Plastik in den Alpenländern, Vienna 1943, ills. 256 and 257.
