From a letter by Dr. Gert Ammann, 19.12.2003 in which he confirms the authenticity of this work:
In the 1930s Alfons Walde mainly devoted himself to the interpretation of winter landscapes. The composition of the architecture and landscape, striking a balance between object and natural environment, is characteristic of that period. Walde’s pastose application of colour, his harmonic use of light and shadow, the vivid rendition of the compact snowy areas on the roofs, the softly shaped snowfields and the rock faces emphasized by shadows – these are all prominent features of his style at that time.
Provenance:
Private Collection, Tyrol – directly from the artist
According to the owner, their father bought this work “Hof am Wilden Kaiser” after an exhibition in a ballroom at Seefeld, directly from the artist
