the rectangular body decorated with a large polychrome painted thunderstorm scene "Das Gewitter, Landleute auf dem Felde" or "Das Gewitter, Landleute, vom Gewitter erschreckt", after Jakob Becker von Worms, 19,5 x 24,5 cm, with frame 33 x 39 cm; KPM-Berlin, 1 sceptre and K. P. M., O = 1914 (Ru)

Thieme-Becker, III. p. 148: Becker von Worms, Jakob, painter, etcher, lithographer, (Dittelsheim bei Worms 15.8.1810-22.12.1872 Frankfurt a. M.) He began his studies with Franz Nikolaus Jung in Worms, later worked as a lithographer in Frankfurt, and in 1833 came to Düsseldorf where he switched to painting. He aligned with the realistic trend and went on top paint genre paintings, in particular scenes from the Westerwald. His "Das Gewitter" (Thunderstorm) is in the Neue Pinakothek, Munich. In 1844 he became professor of genre painting and landscape painting at the Städel in Frankfurt.
