An unusually large historicist table of round form, - Works of Art - Furniture, Sculptures, Glass and Porcelain

designed and manufactured by Carl Leistler & Sohn in Vienna, c. ca.1842/47, hardwood frame on triangular base, elaborately carved with rocaille and floral motifs, moulded top of round form with crossbanded walnut root veneer, height c. 75 cm, diameter c. 134 cm, some wood parts missing especially to the edging, signs of age and use. In his thesis “Peter Hubert Desvignes und die Neo-Rokoko-Neugestaltung des Stadtpalais Liechtenstein 1837 - 1849”, published in 1999, Michael Huey mentions a table that corresponds to the present one in its form, whilst differing in size. This table was executed by the Viennese company Carl Leistler & Sohn and is very similar to the book “Zweites Rokoko, Innenräume und Hausrat in Wien um 1830 - 1860” (plate 47, edited by Marianne Zweig).
