clinging with its claws to two stumps on a tree trunk, serving as both a pedestal and technical support, both wings slightly open with their tips touching the bird’s tail, the figure displays a contrapposto pose, porcelain, with polychrome painted decoration, with iron-red head and body feathers, tail feathers with light blue rimmed decor (at top) and green and pale green hues (at bottom), circular stand width 5,5-6 cm, height 128 cm Meissen, blue crossed swords mark c. 1900, model no. 54, former no. 100, model by Johann Joachim Kändler 1732 (Ru)

Johann Joachim Kändler created the present piece as part of his commission for the ‘Holländisches (Japanisches) Palais’. It was completed in August 1732.
