porcelain, 39 pieces: 1 coffee pot with cover height 24 cm, 1 teapot with cover height 15 cm, 3 sugar bowl with cover height 8.5, 8.5, 10.5 cm, 1 jug height 12 cm, 12 cups with 12 saucers dia 14 cm, 6 dessert plates dia 20 cm, 1 cake tray with 2 handles dia 30 cm, 2 small bowl dia 8 cm, the body with curving gilt edging, iron-red and gilt painted court dragons with symbols of good fortune, “infinite knot” and pearl, coin, scroll and artemisia leaf of the Chinese Eight Treasures and phoenix birds, Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords mark c. 1970 (Ru)

Porzellan Sammlung Dresden im Zwinger, 1998 exhibition collection, p. 166: In keeping with Augustus the Strong’s great enthusiasm for Chinese and, even more, Japanese porcelain, the Meissen dinner service with the “Red Dragon” displays a thorough East Asian influence. Until 1918, the Red Dragon décor was reserved exclusively for porcelain used at the Saxon royal court.
