Northwest Anatolia (Turkey), c. 137 (149) x 87 cm, late 20th century, modern Turkish silk carpet of special quality, wide endweaves on both sides with multicoloured silk warp threads and a knotted density of c. 1 mill. kts/sqm, the design partly executed with embedded metal threads, round signature in the upper main border with: “Haasanuglu n 2681”, inscription at the upper weaving end (translating as ‘this is a carpet with paradise in the heart’), further a classical Turkish glass stone is worked into the upper warp threads, which is regarded as an apotropaic symbol against the ‘evil eye’, prime colour condition and overall state of preservation.
