North Persia (Iran), c. 193 x 144 cm, early 20th century, pictorial carpet with a Persian scene of merrymaking and bird-tree border, noteworthy is a hybrid beast with the body of a bird and a human face in the left main border, the present piece is in outstanding condition with deep pile wool without visible damage, both long sides are secured with a linen band on the back, always in use as wall decoration, the piece is somewhat “dried out” and should be professionally cleaned.
