gilt silver, inner gilding, of oval form, straight drapery, edge with bands, two volute handles, four volute feet, socket cover, 22.5x 12 cm, height 15.5 cm, weight 633 g, master’s mark Johann Peter Schleißmann, assayer’s puncture (‘Tremolierstich’), Berlin hallmark, c. 1730, (Lu)

Superb workmanship by the master Johann Peter Schleißmann. He trained under Lieberkühn, Berlin’s best goldsmith at that time. He became a master in 1728 and produced works for Sanssouci Castle in 1746.
