Fetihe Kilim, Southwest Anatolia, c. 243 x 148 cm, - Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestries

c. 243 x 148 cm, 19th century. The plain central field suggests that the present kilim was originally used as a camel throw. Worth mentioning is the knotted flower at the centre of the piece, an apotropaic element characteristic of authentic weavings. An old Lycian kilim with a modern look, in good original condition. (VP)

Cf.
Sailer, Aus der Welt der Kelim, Salzburg 1984, no. 3. Dorotheum, Oriental carpets, textiles and tapestries, February 2019, lot 30.
