Florence c. 1500, solid walnut and burlwood rectangular frame on stepped detachable base (restored), with maplewood intarsia, delicately moulded framed panels, each with turned walnut wood rings, two of which with Christ monogram IHS, 2 doors with original wrought-iron bands, original lock, 3 compartments, c. 106 x 140 x 92 cm, unrestored condition. Very beautiful original patina. An extremely rare, elegant piece of Renaissance furniture from the late Quattrocento, freestanding, visible from all sides, characterised by strict, very simple forms. Provenance:
Collezione Nada Funaro Giliberti, Florence - Private Collection Vienna. A piece of furniture with a similar design was part of the collection at Villa Bellini in Marignolle near Florence in 1976. Lit.:
