This work belongs to a series of coloured prints used for wallpapers. Zülow had already been entrusted with the interior decoration of a child’s room for Fritz Wärndorfer in 1905. It can be assumed that Zülow subsequently re-used his designs, which had been commissioned from him by the Wiener Werkstätte, for the nursery at the Stoclet Palace. Yet Stoclet declined Zülow’s proposal. It is known, however, that Zülow had the opportunity to decorate a room of his own with stencil prints at the 1908 Kunstschau.
