A Rare Variant of “Tectaform” Chair Mod. No. 823, designed by Arnold Bode

A preparatory sketch by Arnold Bode shows this high-backed version with slightly varied armrest details. The sketch is part of a folder with designs for “Tectaform” furniture, which Bode personally dedicated to the then Domus boss Schöck and dated “mid-February 1953”. Arnold Bode was active primarily as an interior and product designer during the 1950s. In 1955 he founded the documenta in Kassel together with Werner Haftmann and functioned as its artistic director until 1968.
