2020, object trouvé by object artist Udo Breitenbach. Diverse materials. Height c. 85 cm, width c. 142 cm, depth c. 50 cm. (MHA)
The Aschaffenburg-based object artist Udo Breitenbach works with unusual found objects and uses them in a new context. ‘Speaking objects’ from which he reads history and stories, and which he interprets. The results are Dadaesque collages, assemblages or ready-mades. Dadaists opposed the madness of the First World War with ‘the absurd’ - ANTI ART as a creative act of despair. Udo Breitenbach sees himself as a post-Dadaist, who resorts to the language of Dadaism, whilst also dealing with the issues of our time. The present object deals with the pandemic and its effects in a post-Dadaist manner. The object was part of the art exhibition ‘1. Weimarer ab_DADA-Messe’ of the object artist Udo Breitenbach on the occasion of the anniversary of the ‘1. Internationale DADA-Messe’, which took place in Berlin almost exactly 100 years ago and caused a scandal.
