porcelain, 3 pieces: cover, liner and vessel, the white body with wide and narrow gilt edging, copper lustre bands, exquisite gold wavy border painted in impasto manner on matte gold band, frieze with gold leaf festoons and berries, the base of the body with bright gold acanthus leaves, thyrsos rods flanked by grapevines, copper lustre knop, foot with mirrored decoration, rectangular bases with gold corner ornaments, angular handles with gilt edges and gold leaf terminals, bowl inserts with matching decor, covers with gold ring handles, gilt edges and gold sprigs of leaves, the exterior with wide and narrow gilt edging, rim with acanthus leaves and thyrsos rods, copper lustre band, bright gold wavy border on matte gold band, frieze with gold leaf festoons and berries, height 37 cm, edging of the bowl inserts with small restored areas Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, blue barred shield, dated 1801, Sorgenthal era, turner no. 42 Franz Loibl, decoration probably by Anton Kothgasser, the manufactory’s best gilt design painter (Ru)
