The exhibitions of contemporary French art at Prague’s Manes École de Paris and Art of Contemporary France in 1931, the exhibition Poetry 32 a year later and the Czechoslovak Surrealist Group founded in the spring of 1934 – these were the stimuli that at the end of 1934 were to be increasingly reflected in Bohdan Lacina’s own surrealist style. The work on offer is a hitherto unknown and very rare example from this early period, which fully reflects the young artist’s enthusiasm for surrealist poetics, also thanks to the title that Bohdan Lacina gave the work.
