Kammersänger Walter Berry, 8 April 1929 - 27 October 2000, joined the Vienna State Opera in 1950, where he sang in about 1,200 performances until 1995. He performed in all major international opera houses of the world, including New York, Milan, Buenos Aires and Tokyo, and worked with Karajan and Bernstein, among others. He gave recitals and concerts and was a guest of all major festivals. He held a professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Warter Berry loved not only music but also ‘beauty in everyday life’.
