Lit.:
Rosenthal, Hundert Jahre Porzellan, exhibition at the Kestner-Museum Hannover. Meisel Hugo, Lichte, Thuringia 30.7.1887–1966 Rudolstadt, Thuringia, sculptor and porcelain artist, 1903–1905 attended the art school in Lichte. 1908 worked in a sculptor’s studio in Berlin, from 1909 onwards modeller at the Älsteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik, 1917 lost his right arm in the War. He overcame this handicap and studied sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich in 1918–1920. From 1920 onwards again in Volkstedt. 1950–1959 director of the Staatliche Museen Heidecksburg. 1937–1945 works for the Rosenthal Company, producing designs for the Art Department in the Selb head-office.
