Gustav Zindel studied at the der Kunstgewerbeschule in Nuremberg from 1898 to 1900. Afterwards he returned to Rodenau and helped his parents on their farm. He designed post cards and worked for magazines and public relation. His first commission “The tribute of the Erz mountain to the Emperor” made him at once famous and he received several assignments. In 1945 he was displaced from his native country and had to do heavy labour. In 1948 his family was allowed to return to the Erz mountains. Zindel’s work shows the life in the Erz mountains and in the Egerland. The present sheet was reproduced as a postcard which was published by E.A. Götz.
