porcelain, the body with wavy gilt edging and gold arched border, green laurel garlands with red fruit on gold rims, interspersed with light purple painted roses with green sprigs of leaves and blue cornflowers and yellow flowers with green sprigs of leaves, on the well light purple painted rose bouquet with buds and green sprigs of leaves framed by a wide and narrow gilt rim, diameter 25 cm Sèvres, France, dark blue mark with blue lettering, cp painter Chappuis ainé 1761–1787 his speciality are flowers and birds (Ru)

This plate is very probably from the "Guirlande de roses et Barbeaux" service delivered in 1777 to the Duke of Chartres, later Duke of Orléans, called Philippe Égalité. The service consisted of 72 plates in total. The majority of the plates are now at Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire. The estate was bequeathed to the National Trust by James Armand de Rothschild in 1957. The plates are on display there on loan from the Rothschild Family Trust.
