c. 1953, for the St. Valentin Secondary School in Lower Austria (today called Rainer School), stackable black coated metal construction on four legs, varnished wood and linoleum, an open shelf underneath the tabletop, each height approx. 78 cm, width approx. 120 cm, depth approx. 56 cm. (MHA)
Having won first prize in the preceding competition in 1952/53, Roland Rainer planned St. Valentin Secondary School in Lower Austria in 1953. The school was finally built in 1954. In the context of the refurbishment of the building by the architects Poppe & Prehal, the tables were removed in 2004.
Provenance:
originally part of the furnishings of the Rainer School at St. Valentin in Lower Austria;
acquired by the present owner after the school’s refurbishment in 2004
