The Italian opera and film director Gianfranco De Bosio pursued an emphatically historical realism in his production. The rococo spirit was also exhibited in the splendid, sometimes very elaborate costumes of the former Kokoschka assistant Santuzza Calì, which were made in the usual exquisite quality by the famous Roman tailoring company Farani.
The bright, colored costume of Amelia, consisting of a rhinestone tiara, a dress, a petticoat, a skirt and an eye mask, was recently worn by singers such as KS Krassimira Stoyanova, KS Gabriela Beňačková, Norma Fantini, Iano Tamar, Georgina Lukács, and Rosalind Plowright. Other singers of this role in this production included Hui He, Mara Zampieri, Michèle Crider, Sandra Radvanovsky, and Elena Pankratova.
The costume is color-processed and in good condition, but has signs of wear.
*As the costume was made to measure for the singer, it may differ from the standard size.
