COSTUME LADIES SUPERNUMERARY (»SWAN LAKE« - PYOTR I. TCHAIKOVSKY)

COSTUME LADIES SUPERNUMERARY (»SWAN LAKE« - PYOTR I. TCHAIKOVSKY) - Costume Treasures of the Vienna State Opera

Choreography and direction: Rudolf Nureyev
Costume design: Jordi Roig
Premiere: November 23, 1996
Size: EU 50*
»Swan Lake« choreographed and directed by Rudolf Nureyev is one of the most successful productions in the history of the Vienna State Ballet. Three years after his legendary departure from the Soviet Union to the West, the exceptional dancer created his »Viennese Swan Lake« based on Marius Petipa's and Lev Ivanov's St. Petersburg choreography in 1964, which is still part of the permanent repertoire of the Vienna State Ballet.
This costume is from the revival that ballet director Renato Zanella staged at the Vienna State Opera on November 23 in 1996 with Brigitte Stadler as Odette / Odile and Vladimir Malakhov as Prince Siegfried. In consultation with the Nureyev Foundation, which has been administering the artist's legacy since Nureyev's death in January 1993, the Spanish stage designer had reworked the costume and set design for this revival in accordance with Nureyev's original intentions.
This costume consists of a collet (jacket) and trousers, and is made of cotton, burette silk and linen. It is in good condition.
*As the costume was made to measure for the supernumerary, it may differ from the standard size.
