Josef Hoffmann, a table or mantel clock (original title: “Uhr”), Wiener Werkstätte, Vienna, 1903 - Jugendstil and 20th Century Arts and Crafts

copper with hammered decoration; eight alabaster columns (two columns have been restored); nickel silver: hands and dial partly black patinated; the liner with gemstone in the upper section; the foot marked with monogram Josef Hoffmann, silversmith monogram Karl Kallert, WW in an oval and rose mark; with pendulum and key; movement not tested (but the object has been overhauled); signs of age and use; height 34.3 cm, depth 27.1 cm, width 33.1 cm. Literature:
MAK, Vienna, Wiener Werkstätte Archive, model number: M 0005, inventory no.: WWF-97–1–1. The clock was manufactured twice in 1903, the year the Wiener Werkstätte was founded: one example for Dr. Spitzer, one for the Kohn company.
