Cross-woven imperial hand knotted carpet from the famous Parisian workshop at the foot of Chaillot Hill, which began its legendary production in the 17th century in an old soap factory, with the royal privilege of Henry IV. This museum-quality commissioned work is in an unusually good state of preservation and captivates its viewers through the outstanding quality of its colours and design. Minor signs of age and use, original finishes and sides, a few professional repairs. The entire border area is secured with a linen band. (VP)
