Munich, 1898/1899, manufactured by Kohlbecker & Sohn, solid and veneered maplewood construction, stained and waxed, brass fittings, marked on the lock: Möbelfabrik B. Kohlbecker & Sohn, München. Dimensions: height c. 226 cm, width c. 336 cm and c. 117 cm, shelf depth c. 28 cm, cabinet: height c. 84 cm, width c. 127 cm, depth c. 69 cm (outside), height c. 79.5 cm, width c. 114 cm, depth c. 62 cm (inside). Restored condition.

Richard Riemerschmid designed this bookcase for his home in Munich-Pasing. The basic concept of integrated columns can be found in many of Riemerschmid’s early designs in longcase clocks, sideboards, business furnishings and in other bookcases. The right-hand corner element and the adjoining shelf section have been lost.
