With this art object, Bert Löschner modifies the design of an internationally famous piece of seating furniture. Löschner’s appropriation process begins in the nucleus of production, namely technology. Copying starts with the tool itself. The artist deals with the industrial production of everyday objects in order to copy, learn and transform these techniques for his own works. At this point it becomes more complicated. For not only the sculpture, but the processes preceding it are subject to the act of copying, copying and copying. Löschner works as both a product designer and an artist. He was born in Zwickau, Germany, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, where he obtained a postgraduate diploma in art and public space. He also studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Dresden, graduating with a diploma in product design. Löschner experiments with new techniques in his works, in order to deform and reform various found objects. He lives and works in Vienna.
