The magazine „Jugend“(Youth) was a periodical for art and literature which was founded by Georg Hirth and Fritz von Ostini in 1896. The magazine is considered to have given the art movement Jugendstil its name. The focus of the magazine lay on texts of art critics and depictions of art. In the first years of publication hundreds of artists were represented. Many of them were still unknown but had a relation to Munich.
