ADELINE ANDRÉ, born in Bangui, French Equatorial Africa, in 1949. She studied at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. In 1970, she joined the house of Christian Dior as an assistant for haute couture collections working alongside Marc Bohan. In 1981, she founded her own design house, and registered her most famous fashion innovation, the “three sleeve holes”, with the World Intellectual Property Organisation. Her garments are preserved in the collections of the French Fashion Museum, the Palais Galliera in Paris, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and the Fashion and Design Museum in Lisbon.
