A pair of portraits of a gentleman and a lady,
inscribed and dated 1596,
oil on copper, oval, each 9.5 x 8 cm, framed, a pair (2)
The reverse of both portraits bear the arms of the Princes of Colloredo Mansfeld. The title was created in 1763 for Rudolf Joseph von Colloredo, vice-Chancellor of Empress Maria Theresa (1717-1780). The family owned and still owns numerous castles and estates across what is now present-day Austria and the Czech Republic.
